How it goes, minute by minute

We confirm your city is in the coverage area and ask three questions about the parking situation — surface, cover, and clearance if it's a parkade.

Urethane chemistry has rules. By 8 a.m. on the day, we confirm or reschedule — you're never guessing whether the van is coming.

  3. 3

    On-site install30–90 min

Chip repairs run about 30 minutes. Replacements typically run 60–90 minutes including prep, set, and cleanup.

The tech gives you the exact safe-drive-away time for the urethane used and the day's temperature — in writing, on the work order.

Chip repairs: about 30 minutes, drive immediately. Replacements: plan for the install plus the urethane's safe-drive-away window — typically an hour or more, exact figure confirmed on-site for the day's conditions.

How mobile service actually works

A mobile install is the same job as an in-shop install — the variables we manage are weather, workspace, and power. The van carries everything else: glass racked and padded, urethane stored at working temperature, primers, fresh blades, and the vacuum that gets tempered-glass pellets out of a door cavity. What we need from you is a legal, reasonably level place for the van and about a car-length of working room around the vehicle.

Workplace installs are quietly the best option most people never think of: the car sits in the office lot all day anyway, which gives the urethane a long, unhurried cure while you're in meetings. Ask your building manager once, and every future glass job becomes a non-event.

The weather rules — and why we won't bend them

Urethane adhesive cures by reacting with moisture in the air, but the bonding surfaces themselves must be clean and dry, and the chemistry has a working temperature range. Heavy rain onto an open pinch weld, or a bonding surface at freezing, means a bond we won't put our name on — the windshield is a structural part of the car and a backstop for the passenger airbag. So on genuinely wet days without cover, we reschedule or offer the shop. It's not fussiness; it's the difference between autoglass installed and auto glass merely attached.

Light rain with a carport, a garage, or even a temporary canopy? Usually workable — tell us what cover you have when you book and we'll make the call honestly.

Where we can work — and where we can't

Yes: driveways, workplace lots with permission, fleet yards, covered parkades with about 2.1 m of clearance and strata or management consent. No: active street parking on busy arterials (tech safety and door-swing room), underground stalls where management hasn't consented, and open-air spots in heavy rain. If your only parking is a tight parkade, send a photo when you book — we've worked in most of Metro Vancouver's buildings and usually know the answer already.

One honest limitation: static ADAS calibration needs printed targets, controlled lighting, and a level floor — that's a shop procedure. If your vehicle requires a static calibration after replacement, we'll either schedule the calibration as a short shop follow-up or recommend doing the whole job in-shop. Vehicles whose procedure is dynamic (a prescribed road drive) can often be calibrated right from your address.

Questions we actually get

Do you need power or water at my location?

No — the van is self-sufficient. Power tools run off the van, and surface prep uses our own materials. All we need is space and workable weather.

What happens if it rains on my appointment day?

We make the call by 8 a.m. If there's cover (garage, carport, parkade with consent), we usually proceed. If not, you get the next protected slot or a shop bay — your choice, no penalty.

Can you do the camera recalibration at my house too?

If your vehicle's procedure is dynamic — a scan-tool-guided road drive — usually yes. If it requires static targets, that step happens in the shop's calibration bay; we schedule it back-to-back so the car is only 'in progress' once.

My strata is strict. What do they usually need to hear?

That the work is a stationary service call, takes under two hours, uses no open flames or fluids on the ground, and leaves zero debris. We're happy to email your strata a one-paragraph description before you book the date.

How soon after a mobile replacement can I drive?

The tech writes the exact safe-drive-away time on your work order — it depends on the urethane used and the day's temperature. Typically an hour or more. Chip repairs: drive immediately.

You drive in. We handle everything else.
